Stevie Wonder | Recorded after Musikladen #10 - 1974-01-23

A gig of Stevie Wonder after the tv show "Musikladen" #10, Radio Bremen, on January 23rd 1974. Setlist: 1. I'm So Glad To Be Alive 2. Instrumental 3. Higher Ground 4. Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing 5. I Can See The Sun In Late December 6. He's Misstra Know It All

Stevland Hardaway Morris (né Judkins; born May 13, 1950), known professionally as Stevie Wonder, is an American singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. A prominent figure in popular music during the second half of the 20th century, Wonder is one of the most successful songwriters and musicians. A virtual one-man band, his use of synthesizers and further electronic musical instruments during the 1970s reshaped the conventions of R&B. He also helped drive the genre into the album era, crafting his LPs as cohesive, consistent socially conscious statements with complex compositions. Wonder is often hailed as a "genius", and has been credited as a pioneer and influence to musicians of various genres including rhythm and blues, pop, soul, gospel, funk and jazz.

Blind since shortly after his birth, Wonder was a child prodigy known as Little Stevie Wonder, leading him to sign with Motown's Tamla label at the age of 11. In 1963, the single "Fingertips" was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 when Wonder was 13, making him the youngest artist ever to top the chart. Wonder's critical success was at its peak in the 1970s. His "classic period" began in 1972 with the releases of Music of My Mind and Talking Book, the latter featuring "Superstition", which is one of the most distinctive and famous examples of the sound of the Hohner Clavinet keyboard. His works Innervisions (1973), Fulfillingness' First Finale (1974) and Songs in the Key of Life (1976) all won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, making him the tied-record holder for the most Album of the Year wins, with three. He is also the only artist to have won the award with three consecutive album releases.

Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart (Turn Around) (Official Video)

total eclipse of the heart

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit lonely

And you're never coming round

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit tired

Of listening to the sound of my tears

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit nervous

That the best of all the years have gone by

(Turn around)

Every now and then I get a little bit terrified

And then I see the look in your eyes

(Turn around, bright eyes)

Every now and then I fall apart

(Turn around, bright eyes)

Every now and then

I fall apart

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit restless

And I dream of something wild

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit helpless

And I'm lying like a child in your arms

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit angry

And I know I've got to get out and cry

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I get a little bit terrified

But then I see the look in your eyes

(Turn around, bright eyes)

Every now and then

I fall apart

Turn around, bright eyes

Every now and then

I fall apart

And I need you now tonight

And I need you more than ever

And if you only hold me tight

We'll be holding on forever

And we'll only be making it right

'Cause we'll never be wrong

Together we can take it to the end of the line

Your love is like a shadow on me all of the time (all of the time)

I don't know what to do and I'm always in the dark

We're living in a powder keg and giving off sparks

I really need you tonight

Forever's gonna start tonight

(Forever's gonna start tonight)

Once upon a time I was falling in love

But now I'm only falling apart

There's nothing I can do

A total eclipse of the heart

Once upon a time there was light in my life

But now there's only love in the dark

Nothing I can say

A total eclipse of the heart

(Turn around, bright eyes)

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I know you'll never be the boy

You always wanted to be

(Turn around)

But every now and then

I know you'll always be the only boy

Who wanted me the way that I am

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I know there's no one in the universe

As magical and wondrous as you

(Turn around)

Every now and then

I know there's nothing any better

There's nothing that I just wouldn't do

(Turn around, bright eyes)

Every now and then I fall apart

(Turn around, bright eyes)

Every now and then I fall apart

And I need you now tonight

And I need you more than ever

And if you only hold me tight

Tears for Fears - Going To California - Full Concert - 1990

Originally Released in 1990, this is the band at the Santa Barbara County Bowl in May 1990 during their "Seeds of Love" World Tour. The performance also features American vocalist/pianist Oleta Adams who had worked with the band on their album The Seeds of Love and joined them for the subsequent world tour.

I believe that when the hurting and the pain has gone

We will be strong

Oh yes we will be strong, yeah

And I believe that if I'm crying while I write these words

Is it absurd?

Or am I being real

I believe that if you knew just what these tears were for

They would just pour

Like every drop of rain

That's why I believe it is too late for anyone to believe

I believe that if you thought for a moment, took your time

You would not resign yourself

Resign yourself to your fate, no no no, no no, no no

And I believe that if it's written in the stars, that's fine

I can't deny

That I'm a Virgo too

I believe that if you're bristling while you hear this song

I could be wrong

Or have I hit a nerve?

That's why I believe it is too late for anyone to believe

I believe that maybe somewhere in the darkness

In the nighttime, in the storm

In the casino

Casino Spanish eyes

And I believe, no I can't believe that every time you hear a newborn scream

You just can't see the shaping of a life

The shaping of a life

It's too late baby now

It's too late

Yeah

I wanted to be with you alone

And talk about the weather

But traditions I can trace against the child in your face

Won't escape my attention

You keep your distance via the system of touch

And gentle persuasion

I'm lost in admiration, could I need you this much?

Oh, you're wasting my time

You're just, just, just wasting time

Something happens and I'm head over heels

I never find out until I'm head over heels

Something happens and I'm head over heels

Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart

Don't, don't, don't throw it away

Throw it away, throw it away

I made a fire, and watching it burn

Thought of your future

With one foot in the past, now just how long will it last?

Now, now, now, have you no ambitions?

My mother and my brothers used to breathing clean air

And dreaming I'm a doctor

It's hard to be a man when there's a gun in your hand

Oh, I feel so

Something happens and I'm head over heels

I never find out until I'm head over heels

Something happens and I'm head over heels

Ah, don't take my heart, don't break my heart

Don't, don't, don't throw it away

And this is my four leaf clover

I'm on the line, one open mind

This is my four leaf clover

In my mind's eye

One little boy, one little man

Funny how time flies

Bruce Springsteen - Badlands Live at Radrennbahn Weissensee, East Berlin 1988

BADLANDS

Well, lights out tonight

Trouble in the heartland

Got a head on collision

Smashin' in my guts, man

I'm caught in a cross fire

That I don't understand

But there's one thing I know for sure, girl

I don't give a damn

For the same old played out scenes

Baby, I don't give a damn

For just the in-betweens

Honey, I want the heart, I want the soul

I want control right now

You better listen to me, baby

Talk about a dream

Try to make it real

You wake up in the night

With a fear so real

You spend your life waiting

For a moment that just don't come

Well, don't waste your time waiting

Badlands, you gotta live it everyday

Let the broken hearts stand

As the price you've gotta pay

Keep pushin' 'til it's understood

And these badlands start treating us good

Workin' in the fields

That'll get your back burned

Workin' 'neath the wheels

'Til you get your facts learned

Baby, I got my facts

Learned real good right now

You better get it straight, darlin'

Poor man wanna be rich

Rich man wanna be king

And a king ain't satisfied

'Til he rules everything

I wanna go out tonight

I wanna find out what I got

Well, I believe in the love that you gave me

I believe in the faith that can save me

I believe in the hope and I pray

That someday it may raise me

Above these

Badlands, you gotta live it everyday

Let the broken hearts stand

As the price you've gotta pay

Keep pushin' 'til it's understood

And these badlands start treating us good

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa

For the ones who had a notion, a notion deep inside

That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive

I wanna find one face that ain't looking through me

I wanna find one place

I wanna spit in the face of these

Badlands, you gotta live it everyday

Let the broken hearts stand

As the price you've gotta pay

Keep movin' 'til it's understood

And these badlands start treating us good

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, badlands

Tears for Fears - Woman in Chains (Live from Going to California Concert 1990) with Oleta Adams

woman in chains

You better love loving and you better behave

Woman in chains

Calls her man the great white hope

Says she's fine, she'll always cope

Ohh, woman in chains

Woman in chains

Well I feel lying and waiting is a poor man's deal (a poor man's deal)

And I feel hopelessly weighed down by your eyes of steel (your eyes of steel)

Well it's a world gone crazy

Keeps woman in chains

Oh oh oh oh oh

Woman in chains

Trades her soul as skin and bones

Sells the only thing she owns, oh oh

Woman in chains

Men of stone

Oh, no no no

Well I feel

Deep in your heart there are wounds time can't heal

And I feel

Somebody somewhere is trying to breathe

Well you know what I mean

It's a world gone crazy

Keeps woman in chains

It's under my skin but out of my hands

I'll tear it apart but I won't understand

I will not accept the greatness of man

It's a world gone crazy

Keeps a woman in chains

Gone crazy, keeps woman in chains

So free her

Bob Dylan - Series Of Dreams (Official HD Video)

Bob Dylan is a rare artist that has managed to transcend genre to become a universally praised songwriter, performer and musician of the 20th- and 21st-centuries. Starting out as a chronicler of social issues in the 1960s, Dylan has had true staying power with thirty-two studio albums released in 53 years.

SERIES OF DREAMS

I was thinking of a series of dreams

Where nothing comes up to the top.

Everything stays down where it's wounded

And comes to a permanent stop.

Wasn't thinking of anything specific,

Like in a dream, when someone wakes up and screams.

Nothing truly very scientific,

Just thinking of a series of dreams.

Thinking of a series of dreams

Where the time and the tempo drag,

And there's no exit in any direction

'Cept the one that you can't see with your eyes.

Wasn't making any great connections,

Wasn't falling for any intricate schemes.

Nothing that would pass inspection,

Just thinking of a series of dreams.

Dreams where the umbrella is folded,

And into the path you are hurled,

And the cards are no good that you're holding

Unless they're from another world.

In one, the surface was frozen.

In another, I witnessed a crime.

In one, I was running, and in another

All I seemed to be doing was climb.

Wasn't looking for any special assistance,

Not going to any great extremes.

I'd already gone the distance,

Just thinking of a series of dreams.

Dreams where the umbrella is folded,

And into the path you are hurled,

And the cards are no good that you're holding

Unless they're from another world.

I'd already gone the distance,

Just thinking of a series of dreams.

Tears For Fears - Mad World (Official Music Video)

MAD WORLD

All around me are familiar faces

Worn out places, worn out faces

Bright and early for the daily races

Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses

No expression, no expression

Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow

No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you

I find it hard to take

When people run in circles, it's a very, very

Mad world, mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good

Happy birthday, happy birthday

And I feel the way that every child should

Sit and listen, sit and listen

Went to school and I was very nervous

No one knew me, no one knew me

"Hello, teacher! Tell me, what's my lesson?"

Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny

I find it kind of sad

The dreams in which I'm dying

Are the best I've ever had

I find it hard to tell you

I find it hard to take

When people run in circles, it's a very, very

Mad world, mad world

Enlarging your world

Mad world

This Mortal Coil - Song To The Siren (Official Music Video)

A cover of the Tim Buckley song featuring the guitar of Robin Guthrie and voice of Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins). It was first released on a single then included on This Mortal Coil's debut album, It'll End In Tears: http://4ad.com/releases/40

SONG TO THE SIREN

On the floating, shapeless oceans

I did all my best to smile

til your singing eyes and fingers

drew me loving into your eyes.

And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me;

Let me enfold you."

Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you.

Did I dream you dreamed about me?

Were you here when I was full sail?

Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken love lost on your rocks.

For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow."

Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow.

I'm as puzzled as a newborn child.

I'm as riddled as the tide.

Should I stand amid the breakers?

Or shall I lie with death my bride?

Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you."

"Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."

Supper's Ready

Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off

Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes

As the sound of motorcars fades in the night time

I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right

And it's hello babe, with your guardian eyes so blue

Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true

Coming closer with our eyes, a distance falls around our bodies

Out in the garden, the moon seems very bright

Six saintly shrouded men move across the lawn slowly

The seventh walks in front with a cross held high in hand

And it's hey babe your supper's waiting for you

Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true?

I've been so far from here

Far from your warm arms

It's good to feel you again

It's been a long long time

Hasn't it?

I know a farmer who looks after the farm

With water clear, he cares for all his harvest

I know a fireman who looks after the fire

You, can't you see he's fooled you all

Yes, he's here again

Can't you see he's fooled you all?

Share his peace, sign the lease

He's a supersonic scientist

He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary man

Look, look into my mouth he cries

And all the children lost down many paths

I bet my life you'll walk inside

Hand in hand

Gland in gland

With a spoonful of miracle

He's the guaranteed eternal sanctuary

We will rock you, rock you little snake

We will keep you snug and warm

Wearing feelings on our faces while our faces took a rest

We walked across the fields to see the children of the West

But we saw a host of dark skinned warriors standing still below the ground

Waiting for battle

The fight's begun, they've been released

Killing foe for peace, bang, bang, bang

Bang, bang, bang

And they've given me a wonderful potion

'Cause I cannot contain my emotion

And even though I'm feeling good

Something tells me I'd better activate my prayer capsule

Today's a day to celebrate, the foe have met their fate

The order for rejoicing and dancing has come from our warlord

Wandering in the chaos the battle has left

We climb up the mountain of human flesh

To a plateau of green grass, and green trees full of life

A young figure sits still by a pool

He's been stamped "Human Bacon" by some butchery tool

He is you

Social Security took care of this lad

We watch in reverence, as Narcissus is turned to a flower

A flower?

If you go down to Willow Farm

To look for butterflies, flutterbyes, gutterflies

Open your eyes, it's full of surprise

Everyone lies like the fox on the rocks

And the musical box

Oh, there's Mum and Dad, and good and bad

And everyone's happy to be here

There's Winston Churchill dressed in drag

He used to be a British flag, plastic bag, what a drag

The frog was a prince

The prince was a brick, the brick was an egg, the egg was a bird

(Fly away you sweet little thing, they're hard on your tail)

Hadn't you heard? (they're going to change you into a human being!)

Yes, we're happy as fish and gorgeous as geese

And wonderfully clean in the morning

We've got everything, we're growing everything

We've got some in, we've got some out

We've got some wild things floating about

Everyone, we're changing everyone

You name them all, we've had them here

And the real stars are still to appear

(All change!)

Feel your body melt

Mum to mud to mad to dad

Dad diddley office, Dad diddley office

You're all full of ball

Dad to dam to dumb to mum

Mum diddley washing, Mum diddley washing

You're all full of ball

Let me hear your lies, we're living this up to the eyes

Ooh, aah, na-na-na

Momma I want you now

And as you listen to my voice

To look for hidden doors, tidy floors, more applause

You've been here all the time

Like it or not, like what you got

You're under the soil (the soil, the soil)

Yes, deep in the soil (the soil, the soil, the soil!)

So we'll end with a whistle and end with a bang

And all of us fit in our places

With the guards of Magog, swarming around

The Pied Piper takes his children underground

Dragons coming out of the sea

Shimmering silver head of wisdom looking at me

He brings down the fire from the skies

You can tell he's doing well by the look in human eyes

Better not compromise, it won't be easy

666 is no longer alone

He's getting out the marrow in your backbone

And the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll

Gonna blow right down inside your soul

Pythagoras with the looking glass reflects the full moon

In blood, he's writing the lyrics of a brand-new tune

And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue

Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true?

I've been so far from here, far from your loving arms

Now I'm back again

And babe, it's gonna work out fine

Can't you feel our souls ignite?

Shedding ever-changing colours

In the darkness of the fading night

Like the river joins the ocean

As the germ in a seed grows

We have finally been freed to get back home

There's an angel standing in the sun

And he's crying with a loud voice

"This is the supper of the mighty one"

Lord of Lords, King of Kings

Has returned to lead his children home

To take them to the new Jerusalem

CAN - Paperhouse 1971 Live on Beat Club West Germany

Can was a German experimental rock band formed in Cologne in 1968 by the core quartet of Holger Czukay (bass, tape editing), Irmin Schmidt (keyboards), Michael Karoli (guitar), and Jaki Liebezeit (drums). The group cycled through several vocalists, most prominently the American-born Malcolm Mooney (1968–70) and the Japanese-born Damo Suzuki (1970–73), as well as various temporary members.
Coming from backgrounds in the avant-garde and jazz, the members of Can blended elements of psychedelic rock, funk, and noise on influential albums such as Tago Mago (1971), Ege Bamyasi (1972) and Future Days (1973). Can also had occasional commercial success, with singles such as "Spoon" and "I Want More" reaching national singles charts. They have been widely hailed as pioneers of the German krautrock scene, and a considerable influence on subsequent rock, post-punk, ambient, and electronic music.

Take a light shining on the land
Off the wall
Honeymoon, think anything
Make you feel so bad
You can make everything
What you want with your head
You are here and they are there
Everywhere with your mind
Sometimes in my life
It's too hard to hear
Too many savage songs
Itch out for their sound
Forgetting everything
You in your mind
Your flying paperhouse
Reach out for the sky
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more ...
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more
You just can't get back no more ...

Kate Bush + David Gilmour - Running Up That Hill Live

running up that hill

It doesn't hurt me

Do you wanna feel how it feels?

Do you wanna know, know that it doesn't hurt me?

Do you wanna hear about the deal that I'm making?

You, it's you and me

And if I only could

I'd make a deal with God

And I'd get him to swap our places

Be running up that road

Be running up that hill

Be running up that building

Say, if I only could, ooh

You don't wanna hurt me

But see how deep the bullet lies

Unaware I'm tearing you asunder

Ooh, there is thunder in our hearts

Is there so much hate for the ones we love?

Oh, tell me, we both matter, don't we?

You, it's you and me

It's you and me won't be unhappy

And if I only could

I'd make a deal with God

And I'd get him to swap our places

Be running up that road

Be running up that hill

Be running up that building

Say, if I only could, ooh

You

It's you and me

It's you and me won't be unhappy

Oh, come on, baby. Oh, come on, darling

Let me steal this moment from you now

Oh, come on, angel. Come on, come on, darling

Let's exchange the experience, ooh

And if I only could

I'd make a deal with God

And I'd get him to swap our places

I'd be running up that road

Be running up that hill

With no problems

Say, if I only could

I'd make a deal with God

And I'd get him to swap our places

Be running up that road

Be running up that hill

With no problems

So if I only could

And make a deal with God

I'd get him to swap our places

I'd be running up that road

Be running up that hill

With no problems

So if I only could

Be running up that hill

With no problems

If I only could, be running up that hill

Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) Official Video

Directed by Josh Deu

NEIGHBORHOOD #1 (TUNNELS)

And if the snow buries my

My neighborhood

And if my parents are crying

Then I'll dig a tunnel

From my window to yours

Yeah, a tunnel

From my window to yours

You climb out of the chimney

And meet me in the middle

The middle of the town

And since there's no one else around

We let our hair grow long

And forget all we used to know

Then our skin gets thicker

From living out in the snow

You change all the lead

Sleeping in my head

As the day grows dim

I hear you sing a golden hymn

Then we tried to name our babies

But we forgot all the names that

The names we used to know

But sometimes we remember our bedrooms

And our parent's bedrooms

And the bedrooms of our friends

Then we think of our parents

Well, what ever happened to them?

You change all the lead

Sleeping in my head to gold

As the day grows dim

I hear you sing a golden hymn

The song I've been trying to sing

Purify the colors, purify my mind

And spread the ashes of the colors

Over this heart of mine

Talking Heads "Life During Wartime" LIVE Los Angeles, December 1983 - Stop Making Sense Movie

life during wartime

Heard of a van that's loaded with weapons

Packed up and ready to go

Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway

A place where nobody knows

The sound of gunfire, off in the distance

I'm getting used to it now

Lived in a brownstone, lived in a ghetto

I've lived all over this town

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco

This ain't no fooling around

No time for dancing, or lovey-dovey

I ain't got time for that now

Transmit the message to the receiver

Hope for an answer someday

I got three passports, a couple of visas

You don't even know my real name

High on a hillside, the trucks are loading

Everything's ready to roll

I sleep in the daytime, I work in the nighttime

I might not ever get home

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco

This ain't no fooling around

This ain't no Mudd Club, or CBGB

I ain't got time for that now

Heard about Houston? Heard about Detroit?

Heard about Pittsburgh, PA?

You oughta know not to stand by the window

Somebody see you up there

I got some groceries, some peanut butter

To last a couple of days

But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones

Ain't got no records to play

Why stay in college? Why go to night school?

Gonna be different this time

Can't write a letter, can't send no postcard

I ain't got time for that now

Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock

We blended in with the crowd

We got computers, we're tapping phone lines

I know that that ain't allowed

We dress like students, we dress like housewives

Or in a suit and a tie

I changed my hairstyle, so many times now

I don't know what I look like

You make me shiver, I feel so tender

We make a pretty good team

Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving

You ought to get you some sleep

Burned all my notebooks, what good are notebooks?

They won't help me survive

My chest is aching, burns like a furnace

The burning keeps me alive

Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror (Official Video)

MAN IN THE MIRROR

I'm gonna make a change

For once in my life

It's gonna feel real good

Gonna make a difference

Gonna make it right

As I, turn up the collar on

My favorite winter coat

This wind is blowin' my mind

I see the kids in the street

With not enough to eat

Who am I, to be blind pretending not to see their needs?

A summer's disregard

A broken bottle top

And a one man's soul

They follow each other on the wind ya know

'Cause they got nowhere to go

That's why I want you to know

I'm starting with the man in the mirror

I'm asking him to change his ways

And no message could've been any clearer

If they wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make a change

I've been a victim of a selfish kind of love

It's time that I realize

That there are some with no home

Not a nickel to loan

Could it be really me pretending that they're not alone?

A willow deeply scarred

Somebody's broken heart

And a washed out dream (washed out dream)

They follow the pattern of the wind, ya see

'Cause they got no place to be

That's why I'm starting with me

I'm starting with the man in the mirror (oh)

I'm asking him to change his ways (oh)

And no message could've been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make a change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror (oh)

I'm asking him to change his ways (oh)

And no message could've been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make that

Change

I'm starting with the man in the mirror (oh yeah)

I'm asking him to change his ways (better change)

No message could've been any clearer

(If you wanna make the world a better place)

(Take a look at yourself and then make the change)

you can't

(Then you close your) close your, your mind

With the man in the mirror, oh yeah

I'm asking him to change his ways (better change)

No message could've been any clearer

If you wanna make the world a better place

Take a look at yourself and then make a change

gonna feel real good now

I'm gonna make a change

It's gonna feel real good

Come on (change)

Just lift yourself

You know

You've got to stop it

Yourself (yeah)

I've got to make that change today

(Man in the mirror) you got to

You got to not let yourself brother

(Yeah) you know

(Make that change) I've got to get that man, that man

You've got to

You've got to move

Come on

You got to

Stand up, stand up (yeah, make that change)

Stand up

Stand up and lift

Yourself, now

(Man in the mirror)

Gonna make that change come on

(Man in the mirror)

You know it

You know

Change

Make that change
