@natgeo @stevewinterphoto Here is the burning of the rainforest...

@natgeo @stevewinterphoto
Here is the burning of the rainforest for Oil Palm in Sumatra. This is a never ending occurrence, happening every year.
The forests of Indonesia and Borneo are home to tigers, orangutans and many other unique species.
We need to have a moratorium on cutting new forests and a program for consumers to only purchase products that are labeled
Sustainable Palm Oil.
The Straits Times in Singapore reported “A massive operation, both on land and at sea, is under way to prepare for what appears to be an imminent evacuation of thousands of babies and children from their homes in parts of Sumatra and Kalimantan.” read @ http://ift.tt/1i2ngdu
Schools have been closed - and the government is trying to put out the fires - BUT they need to stop the cutting of the forests in the first place.

To find out more about companies that are working towards Sustainable Palm Oil, read the report by the Union of Concerned Scientists here - http://ift.tt/19KoJ4g

Remember just as an example of the importance of the forests.
50% of our oxygen comes from forest - the other 50% from the oceans.
75% of fresh water comes from forests. So we save the forests of the world - we help save ourselves.
